# Barry Butlin

**Barry Desmond Butlin** (born 9 November 1949) is an English former [footballer](/source/Association_football) who played for [Notts County](/source/Notts_County_F.C.), [Luton Town](/source/Luton_Town_F.C.) and [Nottingham Forest](/source/Nottingham_Forest_F.C.), [Peterborough United](/source/Peterborough_United_F.C.) and [Sheffield United](/source/Sheffield_United_F.C.), among others, between the late 1960s and the early 1980s.

## Playing career

Butlin started out with his local side, [Derby County](/source/Derby_County_F.C.), in 1967. He remained with the club until 1972, spending two successful loan spells at [Notts County](/source/Notts_County_F.C.); he then signed for [Luton Town](/source/Luton_Town_F.C.). After two years with Luton he signed for [Nottingham Forest](/source/Nottingham_Forest_F.C.), then after three years and two spells out on loan he signed for [Peterborough United](/source/Peterborough_United_F.C.). He spent two years with Peterborough before signing for [Sheffield United](/source/Sheffield_United_F.C.). After two seasons with the Blades, he retired.[1]
