'''Baron Crew''', of Stene in the County of Northampton, was a title in the [Peerage of England](/source/Peerage_of_England). It was created on 20 April 1661 for the politician [John Crew](/source/John_Crew%2C_1st_Baron_Crew). He was the son of [Sir Thomas Crewe](/source/Thomas_Crewe), [Speaker of the House of Commons](/source/Speaker_of_the_House_of_Commons_(United_Kingdom)). Lord Crew was succeeded by his eldest son, the second Baron. He sat as [Member of Parliament](/source/Member_of_Parliament) for [Northamptonshire](/source/Northamptonshire_(UK_Parliament_constituency)) and [Brackley](/source/Brackley_(UK_Parliament_constituency)). On his death the title passed to his younger brother, the third Baron. He was [Bishop of Oxford](/source/Bishop_of_Oxford) and [Bishop of Durham](/source/Bishop_of_Durham). The title became extinct on his death in 1721.

[Sir Ranulph Crewe](/source/Ranulph_Crewe), uncle of the first Baron, was the ancestor (through the female line) of [John Crewe, 1st Baron Crewe](/source/John_Crewe%2C_1st_Baron_Crewe) (see [Baron Crewe](/source/Baron_Crewe)).
