# Baresmanas

**Baresmanas** (Greek: Βαρεσμανᾶς) was an [Sassanian](/source/Sassanian) [Persian](/source/Persian_people) general. He is known only from his participation in the [Battle of Dara](/source/Battle_of_Dara) in 530 against the [Byzantines](/source/Byzantine) led by [Belisarius](/source/Belisarius), recorded by [Procopius of Caesarea](/source/Procopius_of_Caesarea). In this battle, Baresmanas was the second-in-command of the Persian army under [Perozes](/source/Perozes), and was killed during the fight by [Sunicas](/source/Sunicas). According to the account of Procopius, he was one-eyed.
