# Barbara Wheeler

**Barbara Wheeler** (born in 1967 or 1968) was a [Republican](/source/Republican_Party_(United_States)) member of the [Illinois House of Representatives](/source/Illinois_House_of_Representatives), representing the 64th district from 2013 to 2019. The district contained parts of [Lake County](/source/Lake_County,_Illinois) and [McHenry County](/source/McHenry_County,_Illinois).

## Early life

Wheeler was a [Peace Corps](/source/Peace_Corps) volunteer. She received education degrees from [Loyola University Chicago](/source/Loyola_University_Chicago) and [National Louis University](/source/National_Louis_University), and worked as a teacher at [Wauconda Middle School](/source/Wauconda_Community_Unit_School_District_118).[3] She moved to [Crystal Lake](/source/Crystal_Lake,_Illinois) in 1998.[4]

## Political career

Wheeler served on the [McHenry County](/source/McHenry_County,_Illinois) Board from 2002 to 2012.[5] In 2012 she was elected to the Illinois House of Representatives in the newly redrawn 64th district. She faced no opposition in the primary or general elections.[6]

Wheeler did not run for re-election in 2018.[7]
