A direct descendant to [Elisabeth of Pilcza](/source/Elizabeth_Granowska), the [Queen consort](/source/List_of_Polish_consorts) to [Ladislaus II of Poland](/source/Jogaila), she was born in late 15th century to [Paweł Koła](/source/Pawe%C5%82_Ko%C5%82a) (or Kola) of [Dalejów](/source/Dalej%C3%B3w) and [Żółtanice](/source/%C5%BB%C3%B3%C5%82tanice) (1450-1509), a prominent Polish politician and his wife, Bruneta [Chodkiewicz](/source/Chodkiewicz) (1458-1550).<ref>https://www.myheritage.com/names/barbara_kola</ref> Her father was a [Chamberlain](/source/podkomorzy) (since 1490) and [castellan](/source/castellan) of [Halicz](/source/Halych) who in 1502 rose to the rank of [Voivod of Podolia](/source/Podolian_Voivodeship).
