==Administration==
According to the 1998 census of Cambodia, the Baray District consisted of 18 [communes](/source/Communes_of_Cambodia) and had a population of 159,586.<ref>{{Cite web|title=General Population Census of Cambodia 1998, Final Census Results|publisher=National Institute of Statistics, Ministry of Planning, Cambodia|date=August 2002|url=http://www.nis.gov.kh/nis/uploadFile/pdf/CensusResult98.pdf|page=110|access-date=16 May 2020}}</ref> The population recorded by the 2008 census was 167,581.<ref name=2008census/>
