{{short description|Ancient Arabian goddess}}
{{about|the goddess|the channel on Venus|Baltis Vallis|the ethnic group|Balti people}}

'''Baltis''' was an [ancient Arabian goddess](/source/Religion_in_pre-Islamic_Arabia). She was revered at [Carrhae](/source/Harran) and identified with the planet [Venus](/source/Venus).<ref>{{cite book|last=Lurker|first=Manfred|title=The Routledge Dictionary of Gods and Goddesses, Devils and Demons|publisher=[Routledge](/source/Routledge)|date=1987|pages=30|isbn=0-415-34018-7}}</ref>

[Isaac of Antioch](/source/Isaac_of_Antioch) mentions Baltis in a text written in the middle of the 5th century CE as a [deity](/source/deity) worshipped by the [Arabs](/source/Arabs). Baltis here is equivalent to [Ishtar (Inanna)](/source/Inanna), an [ancient Mesopotamian goddess](/source/Ancient_Mesopotamian_religion).<ref>Jan Retso, The Arabs in Antiquity, Routledge 2003. See pp. 518-9 for Isaac of Antioch's letter. See pg. 604 for discussion on the identification of Baltis.</ref>
