# Baltic Express

The ***Baltic Express*** is an [InterCity](/source/InterCity) and [EuroCity](/source/EuroCity) international [express train](/source/Express_train) service operated by [PKP Intercity](/source/PKP_Intercity) and [Czech Railways](/source/Czech_Railways) in [Poland](/source/Poland) and the [Czech Republic](/source/Czech_Republic),[1] it runs between [Gdynia](/source/Gdynia) and [Prague](/source/Prague), the Czech capital, via [Wrocław](/source/Wroc%C5%82aw).[2][3] The train is classified as an intercity [category](/source/Train_categories_in_Europe) in Poland,[1] and as a EuroCity category in Czech Republic.[4] The train works in cooperation between the Czech railways and the Polish railways, introduced on 15th December 2024.[5]

### Poland

#### Gdynia Główna – Tczew

The Baltic Express starts at [Gdynia Główna railway station](/source/Gdynia_G%C5%82%C3%B3wna_railway_station) on the [Gdańsk – Stargard railway line](/source/Gda%C5%84sk%E2%80%93Stargard_railway) (LK202) 21 km from the beginning of the line, where it follows the [SKM](/source/Tricity_Rapid_Urban_Railway) track to [Gdańsk](/source/Gda%C5%84sk). The train goes south and passes [Gdynia Orłowo railway station](/source/Gdynia_Or%C5%82owo_railway_station) and stops at [Sopot railway station](/source/Sopot_railway_station), after that it continues the route stopping at [Gdańsk Oliwa](/source/Gda%C5%84sk_Oliwa_railway_station) and [Gdańsk Wrzeszcz](/source/Gda%C5%84sk_Wrzeszcz_railway_station) stations, where it arrives at [Gdańsk Główny railway station](/source/Gda%C5%84sk_G%C5%82%C3%B3wny_railway_station), ending the Gdańsk – Stargard line.

After arriving at the [Gdańsk Główny station](/source/Gda%C5%84sk_G%C5%82%C3%B3wny_station) the train takes the second line, [Warsaw – Gdańsk railway line](/source/Warsaw%E2%80%93Gda%C5%84sk_railway) (LK9) beginning from the other start, heading south to [Tczew](/source/Tczew). The train goes through the [railway and road tunnel in Gdańsk](/source/Railway_and_road_tunnel_in_Gda%C5%84sk) and follows the [National road 91](/source/National_road_91_(Poland)) (DK91), along the line it passes [Pruszcz Gdański railway station](/source/Pruszcz_Gda%C5%84ski_railway_station) and [Pszczółki railway station](/source/Pszcz%C3%B3%C5%82ki_railway_station), and arrives at [Tczew railway station](/source/Tczew_railway_station).[6]

#### Tczew – Bydgoszcz

#### EC/IC 260 - 265

After arriving at [Tczew](/source/Tczew) (stopping at 31 km from the [Gdańsk](/source/Gda%C5%84sk) side on the Warsaw – Gdańsk line), the train heads going south south west to [Bydgoszcz](/source/Bydgoszcz) by taking the [Chorzów Batory – Tczew railway line](/source/Chorz%C3%B3w_Batory%E2%80%93Tczew_railway) (LK131), beginning from the other start. The train follows the [National road 91](/source/National_road_91_(Poland)) until passing [Subkowy centrum station](/source/Subkowy_centrum_railway_station), the train passes [Pelplin railway station](/source/Pelplin_railway_station) and crosses [Wierzyca river](/source/Wierzyca). Just after crossing the [Pomeranian](/source/Pomeranian_Voivodeship) and [Kuyavian–Pomeranian](/source/Kuyavian%E2%80%93Pomeranian_Voivodeship) border, the train passes [Twarda Góra station](/source/Twarda_G%C3%B3ra_station), goes through the [Tuchola forest](/source/Tuchola_Forest) and passes [Laskowice Pomorskie junction station](/source/Laskowice_Pomorskie_railway_station). The train goes through another forest, crosses the [Wda river](/source/Wda_River), passes [Terespol Pomorski railway station](/source/Terespol_Pomorski_railway_station) and [Maksymilianowo station](/source/Maksymilianowo_railway_station), enters the city of [Bydgoszcz](/source/Bydgoszcz) and arrives at [Bydgoszcz Główna railway station](/source/Bydgoszcz_G%C5%82%C3%B3wna_railway_station).[7]

#### EC/IC 460 - 461 (Via Iława)

After arriving at [Tczew](/source/Tczew), the train heads going straight east to [Malbork](/source/Malbork) crossing 2 rivers on each city; [Vistula river](/source/Vistula_river) (via the [Tczew railway bridge](/source/Tczew_railway_bridge)), and [Nogat river](/source/Nogat_River), the train exits Tczew by crossing the [Vistula river](/source/Vistula_river) and enters Malbork after crossing the [Nogat river](/source/Nogat_River), arriving at [Malbork railway station](/source/Malbork_railway_station) in [Malbork](/source/Malbork). On its way further south, the train passes [Mleczewo](/source/Mleczewo_railway_station) and [Mikołajki Pomorskie](/source/Miko%C5%82ajki_Pomorskie_railway_station) stations and stops at the [junction station](/source/Junction_station), of which is the [Prabuty railway station](/source/Prabuty_railway_station) in [Prabuty](/source/Prabuty). After crossing the [Pomeranian](/source/Pomeranian_Voivodeship) and [Warmian-Masurian](/source/Warmian%E2%80%93Masurian_Voivodeship) border, the train passes [Susz station](/source/Susz_railway_station) and arrives at [Iława Główna railway station](/source/I%C5%82awa_G%C5%82%C3%B3wna_railway_station) in [Iława](/source/I%C5%82awa), stopping at 119 km from the [Gdańsk](/source/Gda%C5%84sk) side on the Warsaw – Gdańsk line.[6]

The next line is the [Poznań–Skandawa railway line](/source/Warsaw%E2%80%93Gda%C5%84sk_railway) (LK353) taking only the Toruń [–](/source/Warsaw%E2%80%93Gda%C5%84sk_railway) Iława part from the [Skandawa](/source/Skandawa) side (160 km to 255 km from the [Skandawa](/source/Skandawa) side), heading south west to [Tczew](/source/Tczew). The train passes [Jamielnik railway station](/source/Jamielnik_railway_station) and [Biskupiec Pomorski railway station](/source/Biskupiec_Pomorski_railway_station) along the line, just after crossing the [Warmian-Masurian](/source/Warmian%E2%80%93Masurian_Voivodeship) and [Kuyavian–Pomeranian](/source/Kuyavian%E2%80%93Pomeranian_Voivodeship) border, the train stops at [Jabłonowo Pomorskie railway station](/source/Jab%C5%82onowo_Pomorskie_railway_station). Next it continues heading to [Kowalewo Pomorskie](/source/Kowalewo_Pomorskie) where it stops at [Wąbrzeźno railway station](/source/W%C4%85brze%C5%BAno_railway_station) on the way, and continues the route until it arrives at [Kowalewo Pomorskie railway station](/source/Kowalewo_Pomorskie_railway_station). Heading to [Toruń](/source/Toru%C5%84) the train passes [Papowo Toruńskie station](/source/Papowo_Toru%C5%84skie_railway_station) and enters the city stopping at [Toruń Wschodni](/source/Toru%C5%84_Wschodni_railway_station) and [Toruń miasto](/source/Toru%C5%84_miasto_railway_station) stations, where it arrives at [Toruń Główny railway station](/source/Toru%C5%84_G%C5%82%C3%B3wny_railway_station) after crossing the [Vistula river](/source/Vistula_river) again.[6]

The train then heads to [Bydgoszcz](/source/Bydgoszcz) by taking the [Kutno–Piła railway](/source/Kutno%E2%80%93Pi%C5%82a_railway) (LK18) taking only the Toruń – Bydgoszcz part (109 km to 160 km) heading west north west to Bydgoszcz. The train goes through the [Puszcza Bydgosta forest](/source/Puszcza_Bydgosta_forest) and stops at [Solec Kujawski railway station](/source/Solec_Kujawski_railway_station), continuing the route it enters the city of Bydgoszcz where it stops at [Bydgoszcz Wschód railway station](/source/Bydgoszcz_Wsch%C3%B3d_railway_station) and arrives at [Bydgoszcz Główna railway station](/source/Bydgoszcz_G%C5%82%C3%B3wna_railway_station).[6]

#### Bydgoszcz – Inowrocław

Continuing the line, the train heads south west to [Inowrocław](/source/Inowroc%C5%82aw). along the line it passes [Trzciniec railway station](/source/Trzciniec_railway_station) and follows the [National road 25](/source/National_road_25) (DK25) passing [Nowa Wieś Wielka](/source/Nowa_Wie%C5%9B_Wielka_railway_station) and [Jaksice](/source/Jaksice_railway_station) railway stations, eventually arriving at [Inowrocław railway station](/source/Inowroc%C5%82aw_railway_station), stopping at 174 km from the Tczew side on the Chorzów Batory – Tczew line.[6]

#### Inowrocław – Poznań

The train crosses the [Notec canal](/source/Notec_canal) and the [Notec river](/source/Notec_River), and passes [Mogilno railway station](/source/Mogilno_railway_station), along the route the train crosses the [Kuyavian–Pomeranian](/source/Kuyavian%E2%80%93Pomeranian_Voivodeship) and [Greater Poland](/source/Greater_Poland_Voivodeship) border where it passes [Wydartowo](/source/Wydartowo_railway_station) and [Trzemeszno](/source/Trzemeszno_railway_station) stations, initially arriving at [Gniezno railway station](/source/Gniezno_railway_station). After the arrival the train heads to [Poznań](/source/Pozna%C5%84), where it passes [Pierzyska](/source/Pierzyska_railway_station), [Pobiedziska](/source/Pobiedziska_railway_station) and [Kobylnica](/source/Kobylnica_railway_station) stations along other few railway stops, next enters the city of Poznań which passes [Poznań Wschód railway station](/source/Pozna%C5%84_Wsch%C3%B3d_railway_station) and arrives at [Poznań Główny railway station](/source/Pozna%C5%84_G%C5%82%C3%B3wny_railway_station), ending the Poznań – Skandawa line from the Skandawa side.[7]

The train passes [Luboń koło Poznania railway station](/source/Lubo%C5%84_ko%C5%82o_Poznania_railway_station) and [Puszczykowo](/source/Puszczykowo), crosses the [Mosina canal](/source/Mosina_canal) and passes [Mosina railway station](/source/Mosina_railway_station), along the line it passes [Kościan railway station](/source/Ko%C5%9Bcian_railway_station), and stops at [Leszno railway station](/source/Leszno_railway_station) in [Leszno](/source/Leszno). The train crosses the [Greater Poland](/source/Greater_Poland_Voivodeship) and [Lower Silesia](/source/Lower_Silesian_Voivodeship) border alongside the E261, passes [Żmigród railway station](/source/%C5%BBmigr%C3%B3d_railway_station) and [Oborniki Śląskie railway station](/source/Oborniki_%C5%9Al%C4%85skie_railway_station), crosses the [Widawa river](/source/Widawa_river) and enters the city of Wrocław, eventually crossing the [Oder river](/source/Oder_river) and arriving at [Wrocław Główny railway station](/source/Wroc%C5%82aw_G%C5%82%C3%B3wny_railway_station), ending the Wrocław – Poznań line from the opposite direction.[7]

#### EC/IC 460 - 461

The next line of the route is the [Wrocław–Poznań railway](/source/Wroc%C5%82aw%E2%80%93Pozna%C5%84_railway) (LK271) beginning from the other start, heading south to [Wrocław](/source/Wroc%C5%82aw). #### Wrocław – Lichkov

The last line in Poland is the [Wrocław–Międzylesie railway line](/source/Wroc%C5%82aw%E2%80%93Mi%C4%99dzylesie_railway) (LK276), heading south to [Lichkov](/source/Lichkov). The train heads to [Strzelin](/source/Strzelin), passing [Smardzów Wrocławski](/source/Smardz%C3%B3w_Wroc%C5%82awski_railway_station), [Żórawina](/source/%C5%BB%C3%B3rawina_railway_station) and [Boreczek](/source/Boreczek_railway_station) stations, arriving at [Strzelin railway station](/source/Strzelin_railway_station). Continuing the route, the train passes [Bardo Przyłęk station](/source/Bardo_Przy%C5%82%C4%99k_station), where it passes through the [Sudete mountain range](/source/Sudete_mountain_range), crosses the [Nysa-Kłodzka river](/source/Nysa-K%C5%82odzka_river) and goes through the railway tunnel in [Bardo](/source/Bardo,_Poland). The train enters Kłodzko and stops at [Kłodzko Miasto railway station](/source/K%C5%82odzko_Miasto_railway_station) (the train would sometimes stop at [Kłodko Główne railway station](/source/K%C5%82odko_G%C5%82%C3%B3wne_railway_station)), after that it heads to [Międzylesie](/source/Mi%C4%99dzylesie), passing [Gorzanów railway station](/source/Gorzan%C3%B3w_railway_station) and stopping at [Bystrzyca Kłodzka railway station](/source/Bystrzyca_K%C5%82odzka_railway_station), along the route the train enters the [Długopole-Zdrój tunnel](/source/D%C5%82ugopole-Zdr%C3%B3j_Tunnel), passes [Domaszków railway station](/source/Domaszk%C3%B3w_railway_station) and arrives at [Międzylesie railway station](/source/Mi%C4%99dzylesie_railway_station). After that, the train crosses the [Poland - Czechia border](/source/Poland%E2%80%93Czechia_border) and arrives at [Lichkov railway station](/source/Lichkov_railway_station) in [Czech Republic](/source/Czech_Republic), ending the Wrocław – Międzylesie line.[6]

### Czech Republic

#### Lichkov – Ústí nad Orlicí

After entering into [Czech Republic](/source/Czech_Republic), the train takes the [Ústí nad Orlicí–Štíty railway line](/source/%C3%9Ast%C3%AD_nad_Orlic%C3%AD%E2%80%93%C5%A0t%C3%ADty_railway) (024) taking only 35 km of the line, heading south west to [Ústí nad Orlicí](/source/%C3%9Ast%C3%AD_nad_Orlic%C3%AD). After Lichkov, the train follows the [II/312 road](/source/II/312_road) passing [Mladkov station](/source/Mladkov_railway_station) and [Těchonín station](/source/T%C4%9Bchon%C3%ADn_station), then follows the [Tichá Orlice](/source/Tich%C3%A1_Orlice) river and follows back again the [II/312 road](/source/II/312_road) alongside the river, enters the town after passing [Jamné nad Orlicí station](/source/Jamn%C3%A9_nad_Orlic%C3%AD_station) and stops at [Jablonné nad Orlicí](/source/Jablonn%C3%A9_nad_Orlic%C3%AD_railway_station) [railway station](/source/Jablonn%C3%A9_nad_Orlic%C3%AD_railway_station). The train continues to follow the [II/312 road](/source/II/312_road) until the road changes direction going east, passes [Verměřovice station](/source/Verm%C4%9B%C5%99ovice_railway_station) and stops at [Letohrad railway station](/source/Letohrad_railway_station). After that the train follows the [II/360 road](/source/II/360_road) heading south west, until it arrives at [Ústí nad Orlicí railway station](/source/%C3%9Ast%C3%AD_nad_Orlic%C3%AD_railway_station), ending the Ústí nad Orlicí – Štíty line from the opposite direction.

#### Ústí nad Orlicí – Kolín

The next line of the route in Czech republic is the [Kolín–Česká Třebová railway line](/source/Kol%C3%ADn%E2%80%93%C4%8Cesk%C3%A1_T%C5%99ebov%C3%A1_railway) (010), taking only 92 km of the line, heading east to [Kolín](/source/Kol%C3%ADn). The train follows the [Tichá Orlice](/source/Tich%C3%A1_Orlice) river to [Choceň](/source/Choce%C5%88), passing [Brandýs nad Orlicí](/source/Brand%C3%BDs_nad_Orlic%C3%AD_railway_station) and [Choceň](/source/Choce%C5%88_railway_station) stations along the way, the train heads straight to [Pardubice](/source/Pardubice) until it arrives at [Pardubice hlavní nádraží](/source/Pardubice_hlavn%C3%AD_n%C3%A1dra%C5%BE%C3%AD). After leaving the city, the train follows the [Elbe river](/source/Elbe_river) to [Prelouc](/source/Prelouc) eventually passing the [Prelouc railway station](/source/Prelouc_railway_station), continuing the route the train passes [Chvaletice power station](/source/Chvaletice_Power_Station) and follows back again the [Elbe river](/source/Elbe_river) going to [Kolín](/source/Kol%C3%ADn), the train crosses the [Pardubice Region](/source/Pardubice_Region) and [Central Bohemian Region](/source/Central_Bohemian_Region) border and stops at [Kolin railway station](/source/Kol%C3%ADn_railway_station) in Kolín, ending the Kolín – Česká Třebová line from the opposite direction.

#### Kolín – Prague

The last line of the route is the [Prague–Kolín railway line](/source/Prague%E2%80%93Kol%C3%ADn_railway) (011) starting from the other end of the line, heading east to [Prague](/source/Prague). The train passes [Velim](/source/Velim_railway_station) and [Pečky](/source/Pe%C4%8Dky_railway_station) stations, enters the [triple track railway](/source/Triple-track_railway) in [Poříčany](/source/Po%C5%99%C3%AD%C4%8Dany), passes [Český Brod](/source/%C4%8Cesk%C3%BD_Brod_railway_station) and [Úvaly](/source/%C3%9Avaly_railway_station) stations, enters the [Klánovice Forest](/source/Kl%C3%A1novice_Forest) and the city of [Prague](/source/Prague) along, and stops at [Praha-Libeň railway station](/source/Praha-Libe%C5%88_railway_station). Finishing he route, the train goes through the [Nové spojení](/source/Nov%C3%A9_spojen%C3%AD) and finally arrives at [Praha hlavní nádraží](/source/Praha_hlavn%C3%AD_n%C3%A1dra%C5%BE%C3%AD), the Baltic Express terminus, ending the route and ending the Prague – Kolín line from the opposite direction.
