# Ballyhar

**Ballyhar** () is a [townland](/source/Townland) and [electoral division](/source/Electoral_division_(Ireland)) in [County Kerry](/source/County_Kerry), Ireland.[1] Located in the [historical barony](/source/Barony_(Ireland)) of [Magunihy](/source/Magunihy) and in the [civil parish](/source/Civil_parishes_in_Ireland) of Kilcredane, the townland of Ballyhar has an area of approximately 1.2 square kilometres (0.5 sq mi).[2]

There are a number of ancient [ring fort](/source/Ring_fort) and [enclosure](/source/Enclosure_(archaeology)) sites in the townland.[3] The [Catholic](/source/Roman_Catholic) church in Ballyhar was built in the 1820s.[4][5] This church, the Church of the Sacred Heart, is in the ecclesiastical parish of [Firies](/source/Firies) in the [Roman Catholic Diocese of Kerry](/source/Roman_Catholic_Diocese_of_Kerry).[6] Local sports teams include an [association football](/source/Association_football) (soccer) club, Ballyhar Dynamos FC,[7] and Ballyhar-Firies GAA club.[8]
