Ballyadams barony is named after [Ballyadams Castle](/source/Ballyadams_Castle), a 15th-century [fortified house](/source/fortified_house) near [Ballylynan](/source/Ballylynan).{{fact|date=December 2020}}

==Geography==
Ballyadams is located in the east of the county, north of the [River Douglas](/source/River_Douglas_(Ireland)) and west of the [River Barrow](/source/River_Barrow) (where it forms part of the border with [County Kildare](/source/County_Kildare)).
