Named after revolutionary [Colonel Bahtoo](/source/Ba_Htoo), the 17,000 seat stadium was the largest stadium in [Upper Myanmar](/source/Upper_Myanmar) before the construction of [the Mandalarthiri Stadium](/source/Mandalarthiri_Stadium) and the home stadium of [Yadanabon FC](/source/Yadanabon_FC) of the [Myanmar National League](/source/Myanmar_National_League) (MNL).

Bahtoo Stadium also hosts other local and regional football tournaments.
