== History ==
The name Bagby comes from an Old Norse personal name ''Baggi'' + Old Norse ''býr'', meaning "settlement" or "farmstead". Bagby is recorded in the [Domesday Book](/source/Domesday_Book) as ''Bagebi/Baghebi''.<ref>[http://www.domesdayextracts.co.uk/nearest.asp?type=old&easting=446000&northing=480000&nearname=BAGBY&Productid=1 Domesday extracts]</ref> (The name is shared with the hamlet of [Begbie](/source/Begbie), near [Haddington, East Lothian](/source/Haddington%2C_East_Lothian), [Scotland](/source/Scotland), and also Baggeby, [Stockholm county](/source/Stockholm_county), [Sweden](/source/Sweden)).

== Religion ==
[St Mary's Church, Bagby](/source/St_Mary's_Church%2C_Bagby) is located in Church Lane.
