# B-Step Sequencer

**B-Step Sequencer** is a multitrack [software](/source/Software) [MIDI](/source/MIDI) step [sequencer](/source/Music_sequencer) that is available as either a [standalone application](/source/Standalone_program) or in [audio plug-in](/source/Audio_plug-in) format ([VST](/source/Virtual_Studio_Technology) and [Audio Units](/source/Audio_Units)). Primarily used to create melodical [sequences](/source/Sequence_(music)) to trigger [soft or hardware synthesizer](/source/Synthesizer), whether in a [studio](/source/Music_studio) environment or live on stage, it has a [user interface](/source/User_interface) based on pattern and TR music sequencers.

## History

The first version of B-Step Sequencer (1.0), developed by the German company Monoplugs, was released in December 2013 for [Microsoft Windows](/source/Microsoft_Windows), [Mac OS X](/source/Mac_OS_X) and [Linux](/source/Linux). In March 2014 Monoplugs released the B-Step Sequencer for [iPad](/source/IPad), providing the same functionality as for [desktop computers](/source/Desktop-Computer). Version 2.0 was released in October 2014 with two new supported [platforms](/source/Computing_platform): [Android](/source/Android_(operating_system)) and [Raspbian](/source/Raspbian) ([Raspberry Pi](/source/Raspberry_Pi)).

## Features

B-Step Sequencer has a long list of features, including full [MIDI](/source/MIDI) and [MIDI beat clock](/source/MIDI_beat_clock) sync support, [Sequencer Ratcheting](/source/Sequencer_Ratcheting), [shuffle (swing)](/source/Swing_(jazz_performance_style)), [monophonic](/source/Monophony) and [polyphonic](/source/Polyphony) note playback modes.

### User Interface

The [user interface](/source/User_interface), which looks clean and is contrast rich, is designed for [live performances](/source/Concert) without any need for a deep menu hierarchy. It shows all the important settings on the main interface and features [drag and drop](/source/Drag_and_drop) to copy settings on the fly.

### VST Plug-in

As a [VST plug-in](/source/Virtual_Studio_Technology) B-Step Sequencer can be used in well-known [VST hosts](/source/Virtual_Studio_Technology) like [Ableton Live](/source/Ableton_Live), [Cubase](/source/Cubase), [Bitwig](/source/Bitwig), [REAPER](/source/REAPER) or [Renoise](/source/Renoise). ## Versions

B-Step Sequencer is available as either a [trial (demo)](/source/Shareware) or a commercial version. The trial version excludes saving of user projects and is time limited to 30 minutes. After application restart or unloading it in the plug-in host it is possible to use it again for 30 minutes. The commercial version is not time limited and it has the project save feature available.

Support for B-Step Sequencer is provided through a HTML user manual. Users may also register for the official Monoplugs forum or contact Monoplugs directly.
