Chemical compound

**Azure A** is an organic [compound](/source/Chemical_compound) with the [chemical formula](/source/Chemical_formula) C14H14ClN3S. It is a light blue to dark blue [dye](/source/Dye). It is used as a screening test for [mucopolysaccharides](/source/Mucopolysaccharides). It can also be used to stain [lysosomes](/source/Lysosomes) in blood smears, and is often used in [Giemsa stain](/source/Giemsa_stain). It's formed via oxidation of [Methylene blue](/source/Methylene_blue).[1]
