The village of [Viktorovka](/source/Viktorovka_(Akmola_Region)) lies by the western lakeshore, and [Bogenbay Bi](/source/Bogenbay_Bi_(village)) (until 2007 — Losevka) by the eastern. The [Kokshetau](/source/Kokshetau) - [Atbasar](/source/Atbasar) highway passes close to the western lakeside. There are archaeological sites of the [Bronze](/source/Bronze_Age) and [Iron Age](/source/Iron_Age)s in the area near the lake.<ref name="GЕ"/><ref name="STM"/>

Aydabol is located in the [Kokshetau Mountains](/source/Kokshetau_Mountains), [Kazakh Uplands](/source/Kazakh_Uplands), and is part of the [Irtysh](/source/Irtysh) basin. It lies at an elevation of {{convert|427|m|sp=us}}. The lake has a [drop shape](/source/drop_shape) oriented in a north–south direction. The [Arshaly](/source/Arshaly_(river)) river flows from lake Karagaychik in the north into the northeastern shore. A tributary of the [Zhabay](/source/Zhabay) flows southwestwards from the western shore.
