It is 20 kilometres (12 mi) east of [Bourges](/source/Bourges), by the banks of the river [Yèvre](/source/Y%C3%A8vre_(Cher)). The commune is home to [Avord Air Base](/source/Avord_Air_Base), the second largest [French Air and Space Force](/source/French_Air_and_Space_Force) base.
