**Avda** (Russian: А́вда) is an old and rare Russian Christian[1] male [first name](/source/Given_name).[2] It is possibly derived from either the [Biblical Hebrew](/source/Biblical_Hebrew) word *abdā*, meaning *(god's) slave*, *(god's) servant*, or the [Greek](/source/Greek_language) word *audē*, meaning *speech*, *prophecy*.[1]

The [patronymics](/source/Patronymic) derived from "Avda" are "А́вдич" (*Avdich*; masculine) and "А́вдична" (*Avdichna*; feminine).[2]

"Avda" is also a colloquial form of the male first names [Avdakt](/source/Avdakt) and [Avdiky](/source/Avdiky)[3] and a [diminutive](/source/Diminutive) of the male first names [Avdey](/source/Avdey)[2] and [Avdon](/source/Avdon_(given_name)).[4]
