According to [Akilattirattu Ammanai](/source/Akilattirattu_Ammanai) (the holy text of [Ayyavazhi](/source/Ayyavazhi)) [Lord Narayana](/source/Lord_Narayana)  incarnated as [Ayya Vaikundar](/source/Ayya_Vaikundar) and arose from the sea at this place. In honour of this event the Avatharappathi is erected there. This was not included in Panchappathi.
