==Biography==
Austin was born in [Winchelsea](/source/Winchelsea%2C_Victoria) to pioneer grazier Thomas Austin and Elizabeth Phillips Harding.<ref name=adb>{{Cite Australian Dictionary of Biography |first=P. L. |last=Brown  |title=Austin Albert Austin (1855–1925) |id2=austin-austin-albert-5599 |year=1979 |volume=7 |access-date=9 August 2025}}</ref> He came from a political family: his brother [Edwin Henry Austin](/source/Edwin_Henry_Austin), cousin [Sidney Austin](/source/Sidney_Austin), nephew [Edward Arthur Austin](/source/Edward_Arthur_Austin) and grandson [Thomas Leslie Austin](/source/Thomas_Leslie_Austin) were all members of the Victorian Parliament.<ref name=vic>{{webarchive

 |date=3 April 2012}}</ref> He attended [Geelong Grammar School](/source/Geelong_Grammar_School) and the [University of Melbourne](/source/University_of_Melbourne) before becoming a grazier, mostly around [Elaine](/source/Elaine%2C_Victoria). On 29 August 1892 he married Winifred Cameron, with whom he had five children. 

He served on [Meredith Shire Council](/source/Shire_of_Meredith) from 1892 to 1893 and [Buninyong Shire Council](/source/Shire_of_Buninyong) from 1908 to 1911.<ref name=vic/> In 1902 he was elected to the [Victorian Legislative Assembly](/source/Victorian_Legislative_Assembly) for [Grenville](/source/Electoral_district_of_Grenville), serving until 1904.<ref name=parl>{{Cite Parliament of Victoria Member Profile |name=Austin Albert Austin |id=austin-austin |access-date=13 August 2025}}</ref> In 1910 he was elected to the [Victorian Legislative Council](/source/Victorian_Legislative_Council) for [South Western Province](/source/South_Western_Province_(Victoria)). He was a Liberal and a [Nationalist](/source/Nationalist_Party_of_Australia), and served until his retirement in 1925. Austin died a few months after his retirement in [Geelong](/source/Geelong).<ref name=parl/>
