The '''Ausper''' is a [racing car](/source/Auto_racing) that was made in the United Kingdom from 1960 to 1962 by Competition Cars of Australia.<ref name="Hodges">{{cite book|last=Hodges|first=David|title=A-Z of Formula Racing Cars|year=1990|publisher=Bay View Books|location=Bideford, UK|isbn=1870979168|pages=279}}</ref> It was constructed as a [Formula Junior](/source/Formula_Junior) car, with a rear-mounted [Cosworth](/source/Cosworth) [engine](/source/engine) set in a tubular [space frame](/source/space_frame), with a [Renault](/source/Renault) gearbox. It was based on the Tomahawk, a design from [Australian](/source/Australian_people) Tom Hawkes, that was intended for export to his home country. One of the unusual features of the Ausper was the bodywork, which was very low, with an upswept tail and the drivers [roll bar](/source/Roll_cage) faired into the headrest.<ref name="Hodges" />

The Ausper was revised in 1962, with sleeker bodywork, and a total height of 24 inches to the top of the body.<ref name="Hodges" /> Results were encouraging, but did not result in any title wins.

== Formula One Project ==
Ausper developed plans for a [Formula One](/source/Formula_One) car using a Clisby [V6 engine](/source/V6_engine), called the T4. The car was a poorly made copy of the [Ferrari 156 F1](/source/Ferrari_156_F1). The car was slow off the line, handled poorly, but would get a third in its first and only outing in [Formula Libre](/source/Formula_Libre) . But these plans never eventuated, which led to Ausper closing down.<ref name="Hodges" />
