On 7 June 1621, he was appointed during the papacy of [Pope Gregory XV](/source/Pope_Gregory_XV) as [Bishop of Como](/source/Bishop_of_Como).<ref name=HierarchiaIV /><ref name=CathHierAurArch />
On 11 July 1621, he was consecrated bishop by [Ludovico Ludovisi](/source/Ludovico_Ludovisi), [Archbishop of Bologna](/source/Archbishop_of_Bologna) with [Galeazzo Sanvitale](/source/Galeazzo_Sanvitale), [Archbishop Emeritus of Bari](/source/Archbishop_of_Bari), and [Ulpiano Volpi](/source/Ulpiano_Volpi), [Bishop of Novara](/source/Bishop_of_Novara), serving as co-consecrators.<ref name=CathHierAurArch />
