It is based on a story by [André Birabeau](/source/Andr%C3%A9_Birabeau).[1] It was made by [Pathé](/source/Path%C3%A9) at the company's [Francoeur Studios](/source/Francoeur_Studios) in [Paris](/source/Paris). The film's sets were designed by the [art director](/source/Art_director) [Lucien Aguettand](/source/Lucien_Aguettand).

## Synopsis

When their car breaks down in the country, a couple have to stay at a nearby [luxury hotel](/source/Luxury_hotel). Despite being well-off, the miserly wife takes advantage of a special offer to get her husband a cheap room by pretending he is her [chauffeur](/source/Chauffeur) while taking an expensive one for herself as a "[baroness](/source/Baroness)". Complications ensue however when a [chambermaid](/source/Chambermaid) begins to fall for her husband, while she herself is courted by one of the guests.
