**The Aston Arena** (formerly **Aston Villa Leisure Centre** and **Aston Events Centre**) was an indoor sports, music and community event venue located in [Aston](/source/Aston), [Birmingham](/source/Birmingham), [West Midlands](/source/West_Midlands_(county)), [England](/source/England).[1][3]

The venue was situated near to [Villa Park](/source/Villa_Park), the home of [Aston Villa F.C.](/source/Aston_Villa_F.C.)[1]

The venue played host to many sporting events, and was the home of the [basketball](/source/Basketball) teams [Birmingham Bullets](/source/Birmingham_Bullets), [Birmingham Athletics](/source/Birmingham_Athletics) and [Birmingham Panthers](/source/Birmingham_Panthers).[3]

In the 1990s various global music acts from the [charts](/source/Official_Charts_Company) performed there.[1][3] Artists who performed at the venue include [Bob Dylan](/source/Bob_Dylan), [Black Sabbath](/source/Black_Sabbath), [Paul Weller](/source/Paul_Weller), [Nirvana](/source/Nirvana_(band)), [Manic Street Preachers](/source/Manic_Street_Preachers), [The B52's](/source/The_B52's), [Crowded House](/source/Crowded_House), [The Waterboys](/source/The_Waterboys), [Skunk Anansie](/source/Skunk_Anansie), [Deacon Blue](/source/Deacon_Blue), [Pulp](/source/Pulp_(band)), [Blur](/source/Blur_(band)), and [Morrissey](/source/Morrissey), among others.[1][3]
