**Asteroskopeio** ([Greek](/source/Greek_language): Αστεροσκοπείο, pronounced [\[a.ste.ɾo.skoˈpio\]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:IPA/Greek)), meaning 'observatory', is a [neighborhood](/source/Neighborhood) of the center of [Athens](/source/Athens), [Greece](/source/Greece). It is located between [Thiseio](/source/Thiseio) and [Nymphon Hill](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Nymphon_Hill&action=edit&redlink=1). The neighbourhood named after the [National Observatory of Athens](/source/National_Observatory_of_Athens) that was built in Nymphon Hill in 1842, thanks to the donation of wealthy Greek [Georgios Sinas](/source/Georgios_Sinas).[1] Near the hill is located [Pnyx](/source/Pnyx).[2]
