# Askland

**Askland** is a village in [Åmli](/source/%C3%85mli) municipality in [Agder](/source/Agder) county, [Norway](/source/Norway). The village is located in the [Gjøvdal](/source/Gj%C3%B8vdal) valley, just north of the river Gjøv. The village of [Homdrom](/source/Homdrom) lies about 9 kilometres (5.6 mi) to the southeast and the municipal centre of [Åmli](/source/%C3%85mli_(village)) lies about 20 kilometres (12 mi) to the southeast. From 1908 until 1960, the Gjøvdal valley was the separate municipality of [Gjøvdal](/source/Gj%C3%B8vdal) which had Askland as its [administrative centre](/source/Administrative_centre). [Gjøvdal Church](/source/Gj%C3%B8vdal_Church) is located in Askland.
