# Asan River

Not to be confused with the Asan River that flows through the [Asan Barrage](/source/Asan_Barrage) in [Doon Valley](/source/Doon_Valley), ([Dehradun District](/source/Dehradun_District)).

The **Asan River** is a river in the [United States](/source/United_States) territory of [Guam](/source/Guam) that lies entirely within the village of [Asan-Maina](/source/Asan-Maina,_Guam).[1] It originates in the highlands of [Nimitz Hill Annex](/source/Nimitz_Hill_Annex) and flows through the Asan Inland Unit of [War in the Pacific National Historical Park](/source/War_in_the_Pacific_National_Historical_Park) (WAPA) and enters the community of [Asan](/source/Asan_(CDP)). It then briefly re-enters WAPA at its Asan Inland Unit, with the mouth at the eastern end of Asan Memorial Park into [Asan Bay](/source/Asan_Bay). The river was thus a significant geographical feature of the [Asan Invasion Beach](/source/Asan_Invasion_Beach) for U.S. forces during the [initial landings on Guam](/source/Battle_of_Guam_(1944)) in July 1944.
