**Arzoun** ([Arabic](/source/Arabic_language): ارزون, [romanized](/source/Romanization_of_Arabic): *Ārzūn*) or *Kerzon*,[1] is a municipality in [Tyre District](/source/Tyre_District), [Governorate of South Lebanon](/source/South_Governorate).

## History

In 1875, [Victor Guérin](/source/Victor_Gu%C3%A9rin) noted "To the east and at the bottom of the hill of [Derdarhieh](/source/Derdarhieh), is the [hamlet](/source/Hamlet_(place)) of Kerzoun. Situated on a low mound, it consists of a few houses, inhabited by five families of [Metualis](/source/Metualis), and has succeeded a more important ancient village."[2]

In 1881, the [PEF](/source/Palestine_Exploration_Fund)'s [*Survey of Western Palestine* (SWP)](/source/PEF_Survey_of_Palestine) described the village (which they called *Kerzon*), as: "A small village of [mud](/source/Adobe) and stone, with a large palm-tree near, containing about fifty [Metawileh](/source/Metawileh). It is situated in the valley, with figs and arable land around. There is a spring and [cisterns](/source/Cistern) at the village."[3]

## Demographics

In 2014, [Muslims](/source/Islam_in_Lebanon) made up 99.58% of registered voters in Arzoun. 97.46% of the voters were [Shiite Muslims](/source/Lebanese_Shia_Muslims).[4]
