# Arthur Slaght

**Arthur Graeme Slaght** (3 May 1877 – 21 January 1964) was a [Canadian](/source/Canadians) lawyer and politician. Slaght served as a [Liberal party](/source/Liberal_Party_of_Canada) member of the [House of Commons of Canada](/source/House_of_Commons_of_Canada). He was born in [Simcoe, Ontario](/source/Simcoe,_Ontario).

Slaght attended secondary school at Simcoe, then studied at [Osgoode Hall Law School](/source/Osgoode_Hall_Law_School).[1]

He unsuccessfully attempted to win a seat in the House of Commons at [Timiskaming](/source/Timiskaming_(electoral_district)) riding in a by-election on 7 April 1920. He won the [Parry Sound](/source/Parry_Sound_(federal_electoral_district)) seat in the [1935 federal election](/source/1935_Canadian_federal_election) and was re-elected there in [1940](/source/1940_Canadian_federal_election). After completing his term in the [19th Canadian Parliament](/source/19th_Canadian_Parliament), Slaght did not seek a further term in the [1945 election](/source/1945_Canadian_federal_election).
