# Arthur Clague

**Arthur Ashford Clague** (12 January 1915 – 13 August 1983) [1] was an [Anglican](/source/Anglican) [priest](/source/Priest), and the [Archdeacon of Man](/source/Archdeacon_of_Man) from 1978 until 1982.[2]

Clague was educated at [King Williams College](/source/King_Williams_College) on the [Isle of Man](/source/Isle_of_Man) and at [Durham University](/source/Durham_University), and [ordained](/source/Ordained) in 1939.[3] He was [Curate](/source/Curate) at St Mary, [Crumpsall](/source/Crumpsall), then a [Lecturer](/source/Lecturer) at [Bolton](/source/Bolton) Parish Church. He was [Rector](/source/Rector_(ecclesiastical)) of Christ Church, [Harpurhey](/source/Harpurhey) from 1945 to 1949 followed by twenty years as the [incumbent](/source/Incumbent_(ecclesiastical)) of [Golborne](/source/Golborne). He was the [Vicar](/source/Vicar) of [Lezayre](/source/Lezayre) from 1969 to 1982; for the last four of these, he was an [archdeacon](/source/Archdeacon).
