== Biography ==
Astley was a member of the Salford Harriers. Astley represented [Great Britain at the 1908 Summer Olympics](/source/Great_Britain_at_the_1908_Summer_Olympics) in London, where he ran the [800 metres](/source/Athletics_at_the_1908_Summer_Olympics_%E2%80%93_Men's_800_metres), finishing second in his semi-final (first round) heat with a time of 1:59.9.  He did not advance to the final.
