Starting from the mid-1980s, Testa focused on painting and poster design for cultural and social campaigns.<ref name=Routledge/> In 1985 he was appointed honor laureate in [Fort Collins](/source/Fort_Collins), [Colorado](/source/Colorado).<ref name=Routledge/>

At the [66th edition](/source/66th_Venice_International_Film_Festival)  of the [Venice Film Festival](/source/Venice_Film_Festival), in September 2009, biographical documentary film ''Armando Testa.
