She is best known for her roles as Armenia in *[Eat Pray Love](/source/Eat_Pray_Love)* opposite [Julia Roberts](/source/Julia_Roberts) and [Javier Bardem](/source/Javier_Bardem), as Bebe Arcel in the [Starz](/source/Starz) series *[Crash](/source/Crash_(2008_TV_series))*, and as [Vera Juarez](/source/Vera_Juarez) in the [BBC](/source/BBC)’s *[Torchwood: Miracle Day](/source/Torchwood:_Miracle_Day)*.[1] ## Early life Tur was born in [Miami](/source/Miami), [Florida](/source/Florida), the only child of [Cuban](/source/Cubans) [political refugees](/source/Political_refugees). She attended [Florida International University](/source/Florida_International_University), where she graduated with dual degrees in [Marketing](/source/Marketing) and [Public Relations](/source/Public_relations). During college, she played professional [beach volleyball](/source/Beach_volleyball) and began her modeling career after being approached by modeling agents. ## Career Tur started her career in the entertainment industry as a model before transitioning into acting. She studied acting at [HB Studios](/source/HB_Studio) in New York City and [Howard Fine](/source/Howard_Fine) in Los Angeles. Her first role was a lead in the 2003 [Telemundo](/source/Telemundo)/[NBC](/source/NBC) Hispanic comedy series *Los Teens*.
