**Arizona Lithium** is an Australian owned mining company previously known as Hawkstone Mining.

The company purchased USA Lithium in 2018 and is developing the [Big Sandy lithium mine](/source/Big_Sandy_lithium_mine).[1][2]

## Organization

The company is located at Level 2, 10 [Outram Street](/source/Outram_Street), [West Perth, Western Australia](/source/West_Perth,_Western_Australia).[3] Its managing director is Paul Lloyd.[4]

The company was previously known as Hawkstone Mining.[5]

## Activities

The company is working on the [Big Sandy lithium mine](/source/Big_Sandy_lithium_mine) located on [Bureau of Land Management](/source/Bureau_of_Land_Management) land in [Wikieup, Arizona](/source/Wikieup,_Arizona). The location is proximate to the [Hualapai](/source/Hualapai) tribe's [Cholla Canyon Ranch](/source/Cholla_Canyon_Ranch) and the nearby [Cofer Hot Springs](/source/Cofer_Hot_Springs), considered sacred to the tribe.[6] In 2021, the [American Institute for Economic Research](/source/American_Institute_for_Economic_Research) stated that the planned development of the mine would destroy the springs.[7] In October 2022, Arizona Lithium signed an informal agreement with Cemvita Factory to use their [Tempe, Arizona](/source/Tempe,_Arizona) production facility to process lithium.[8] In December 2022, the company formed a partnership with the [Navajo Nation's](/source/Navajo_Nation) Navajo Transitional Energy Company to collaborate on the mine.[9]

In December 2022, the company offered to buy [Saskatchewan](/source/Saskatchewan)-based Canadian company Prairie Lithium.[10]

## Profitability

The company's share prince dropped nearly 23% in 2018 when it announced that is had abandoned plans to buy USA Lithium.[11] Later the same month when the company announced the deal was back on, the share price closed 32% up.[2]
