'''Area code 772''' is a telephone [area code](/source/area_code) in the [North American Numbering Plan](/source/North_American_Numbering_Plan) (NANP) for the [Treasure Coast](/source/Treasure_Coast) in the east central part of the [U.S. state](/source/U.S._state) of [Florida](/source/Florida).<ref>{{Cite web |title=Area Code Maps |url=https://www.nanpa.com/resources/area-code-maps |access-date=2025-10-19 |website=NANPA |publisher=[North American Numbering Plan Administrator](/source/North_American_Numbering_Plan_Administrator)}}</ref> The numbering plan area (NPA) includes [Sebastian](/source/Sebastian%2C_Florida), [Fellsmere](/source/Fellsmere%2C_Florida), [Vero Beach](/source/Vero_Beach%2C_Florida), [Fort Pierce](/source/Fort_Pierce%2C_Florida), [Port St. Lucie](/source/Port_Saint_Lucie%2C_Florida), [Jensen Beach](/source/Jensen_Beach%2C_Florida), [Stuart](/source/Stuart%2C_Florida), [Hobe Sound](/source/Hobe_Sound%2C_Florida), and [Indiantown](/source/Indiantown%2C_Florida). The area code was created in 2002 in a split from [area code 561](/source/area_code_561), in relief of numbering pool exhaustion due in part to the increase of cell phone users.

The Treasure Coast was served by four area codes in about a 15-year span.

Since 1947, the numbering plan area (NPA) was served for 41 years by [area code 305](/source/area_code_305), until [area code 407](/source/area_code_407) was created in 1988. After belonging to NPA 561 since 1996, it finally split off with area code 772 in 2002. Today, despite the Treasure Coast's rapid growth, 772 is nowhere near exhaustion; NANP projections estimate that the region will not need another area code until at least 2069.
