# Ardvreck Group

The **Ardvreck Group** is a [stratigraphic group](/source/Group_(stratigraphy)) of early [Cambrian](/source/Cambrian) age found in the [Northwest Highlands](/source/Northwest_Highlands) of [Scotland](/source/Scotland). It lies [unconformably](/source/Unconformity) on [gneisses](/source/Gneiss) of the [Lewisian complex](/source/Lewisian_complex) or sandstones of the [Torridon Group](/source/Torridon_Group). It consists of two formations, the basal [quartzites](/source/Quartzite) and [quartz](/source/Quartz) [arenites](/source/Arenite) of the [Eriboll formation](/source/Eriboll_formation) and the overlying dolomitic siltstones and sandstones and quartz arenites of the [An-t-Sron formation](/source/An-t-Sron_formation). It is overlain conformably by the [Ghrudaidh formation](/source/Ghrudaidh_formation) of the [Durness Group](/source/Durness_Group). The Ardvreck Group was at one time known as the "Eriboll Group".[1]
