{{Short description|Former municipality in Nordjylland, Denmark}}
'''Arden municipality''' was a municipality ([Danish](/source/Danish_language), ''[kommune](/source/Commune_(subnational_entity))'') in [North Jutland County](/source/North_Jutland_County) on the [Jutland](/source/Jutland) peninsula in northern [Denmark](/source/Denmark) until 1 January 2007. The municipality covered an area of 228 km2, and had a total population of 8,513 (2005). Its last mayor was Hans Christian Maarup, a member of the [Social Democrats](/source/Social_Democrats_(Denmark)) (''Socialdemokraterne'') [political party](/source/Politics_of_Denmark).

The main town and the site of its municipal council was the town of [Arden](/source/Arden%2C_Denmark).

The municipality was created in 1970 due to a {{lang|da|kommunalreform}} ("Municipality Reform") that combined Astrup, Store Arden, Oue-Valsgaard, Rold-Vebbestrup and Rostrup municipalities.

On 1 January 2007 Arden municipality ceased to exist as the result of [''Kommunalreformen'' ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007)](/source/Municipalities_of_Denmark). It was merged with former [Hadsund](/source/Hadsund) and [Hobro](/source/Hobro) municipalities, and part of [Mariager Municipality](/source/Mariager_Municipality) to form the new [Mariagerfjord Municipality](/source/Mariagerfjord_Municipality). This created a municipality with an area of 769 km2 and a total population of 43,049 (2005). The new municipality belongs to the [Region Nordjylland](/source/North_Denmark_Region) ("North Jutland Region").
