# Aranos Constituency

Electoral constituency in Namibia

**Aranos Constituency** is an [electoral constituency](/source/Constituencies_of_Namibia) in the [Hardap Region](/source/Hardap_Region) of [Namibia](/source/Namibia). It was created in August 2013, following a recommendation of the *Fourth Delimitation Commission of Namibia*, and in preparation of the [2014 general election](/source/Namibian_general_election%2C_2014).[1] Aranos constituency was formed from the eastern part of [Mariental Rural](/source/Mariental_Rural) constituency.[2] The administrative centre of Aranos Constituency is the town of [Aranos](/source/Aranos). As of 2020[\[update\]](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Aranos_Constituency&action=edit) the constituency had 5,604 registered voters.[3]

## Politics

In the [2015 regional elections](/source/Namibian_local_and_regional_elections%2C_2015) Jan Jarson of [Swapo](/source/Swapo) won the constituency with 1,278 votes, followed by Dawid Gaweseb of the [Rally for Democracy and Progress](/source/Rally_for_Democracy_and_Progress_(Namibia)) (RDP, 613 votes) and Rehabeam Katjijova of the [Democratic Turnhalle Alliance](/source/Democratic_Turnhalle_Alliance) (DTA, 384 votes).[4] The [2020 regional election](/source/2020_Namibian_local_and_regional_elections) was won by Salomon Henry Boois of the [Landless People's Movement](/source/Landless_People's_Movement_(Namibia)) (LPM, a new party registered in 2018). He obtained 1,518 votes. The SWAPO candidate, Lukas Veldskoen, came second with 781 votes, followed by Elden Elvis Kuhanga of the [Independent Patriots for Change](/source/Independent_Patriots_for_Change) (IPC, an opposition party formed in August 2020) who obtained 579 votes.[5]
