'''Arales''' is an order of [flowering plant](/source/flowering_plant)s.<ref>{{Cite journal |last=Wilson |first=Kenneth A. |title=The Genera of the Arales in the Southeastern United States |date=1960 |url=https://www.jstor.org/stable/43782464 |journal=Journal of the Arnold Arboretum |volume=41 |issue=1 |pages=47–72 |doi=10.5962/bhl.part.15229 |jstor=43782464 |issn=0004-2625|doi-access=free }}</ref> The name was used in the [Cronquist system](/source/Cronquist_system) for an order placed in subclass ''[Arecidae](/source/Arecidae)'', circumscribed as (1981):

* order Arales
*: family [Acoraceae](/source/Acorus)
*: family [Araceae](/source/Araceae)
*: family [Lemnaceae](/source/Lemnoideae)

In the classification system of [Dahlgren](/source/Rolf_Dahlgren) the Arales were in the [superorder](/source/superorder) Ariflorae (also called Aranae), but did not include Acoraceae as a separate family.<ref>{{Cite book |last=Singh |first=Gurcharan |url=https://books.google.com/books?id=MiGeDwAAQBAJ |title=Plant Systematics: An Integrated Approach, Fourth Edition |date=2019-06-07 |publisher=CRC Press |isbn=978-1-000-57677-1 |pages=255–259; 328–329 |language=en}}</ref> Instead, ''Acorus'', its only genus, was included in the Araceae. Arales was the only order included in the Ariflorae.

The [APG II system](/source/APG_II_system) elevates the first of these three families to become an order ''[Acorales](/source/Acorales)'' of its own (consisting of the single genus, ''Acorus'') and unites the last two of these families into the one family ''[Araceae](/source/Araceae)'', assigning this to the order ''[Alismatales](/source/Alismatales)''.
