He was selected for the [Papua New Guinea Kumuls](/source/Papua_New_Guinea_national_rugby_league_team) and represented the side in two [World Cup](/source/1989-92_Rugby_League_World_Cup) matches in 1992. He captained [Papua New Guinea](/source/Papua_New_Guinea_national_rugby_league_team) at the 1994 [World Sevens](/source/Rugby_League_World_Sevens). Later, Emil became involved in the [PNG NRL Bid](/source/PNG_NRL_Bid)'s schools rollout program. ==Death== Emil died in a shooting in [Port Moresby](/source/Port_Moresby) in the early morning of 4 February 2011. Theo Yasause, a 44-year-old former chief of staff to Papua New Guinea prime minister [Michael Somare](/source/Michael_Somare), was charged with Emil's murder.
