***Apocalyptic Riders*** is a [diptych](/source/Diptych) executed in 1984 and is part of a [series](/source/Serial_imagery) begun in [1980](/source/1980_in_art) by [Nabil Kanso](/source/Nabil_Kanso).[1]

## Description

The diptych is [oil](/source/Oil_painting) on 2-piece [canvas](/source/Canvas#Canvas_for_painting) measuring 2.75 X 4.50 meters (9 X 15 feet).[2] It depicts two horsemen or as one writer describes "Two wild Knights riding toward each other in an explosion swarming the canvas.[3] They represent the Apocalypse Riders who are also the riders of the war in Lebanon, the artist’s native country."[4]
