Its only species is the '''short-armed waspfish''' ('''''Apistops caloundra'''''), also known as the '''shortfinned waspfish''' or '''shortspine waspfish'''. This species is found in the [Indian](/source/Indian_Ocean) and [Pacific](/source/Pacific_Ocean) waters from [Papua New Guinea](/source/Papua_New_Guinea), the [Arafura Sea](/source/Arafura_Sea) and northwest [Australia](/source/Australia).
