# Apellonia

**Apellonia** (Ancient Greek: Ἀπελλωνία), also **Apollonia** (Ἀπολλωνία), was a town and *[polis](/source/Polis)* (city-state)[1] of [ancient Crete](/source/Ancient_Crete).[2]

The site of Apellonia is located near modern [Agia Pelagia](/source/Agia_Pelagia).[2][3][1]
