**Anton Filippov** (born 6 December 1986) is an Uzbek [chess grandmaster](/source/Chess_grandmaster).

## Career

He won the [Asian Under 16 Chess Championship 2001](/source/Asian_Junior_Chess_Championship) in [Doha](/source/Doha),[2] and the [Asian U18 Athletics Championship](/source/Asian_U18_Athletics_Championships) in 2004.[3] In 2007 he tied for 1st–3rd with [Vladimir Egin](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Vladimir_Egin&action=edit&redlink=1) and [Timur Gareev](/source/Timur_Gareev) in the [Uzbekistani Chess Championship](/source/Uzbekistani_Chess_Championship).[4] In 2008 he won the first [Kuala Lumpur](/source/Kuala_Lumpur) Open Championship[5] and tied for 4–8th with [Tamaz Gelashvili](/source/Tamaz_Gelashvili), [Constantin Lupulescu](/source/Constantin_Lupulescu), [Nidjat Mamedov](/source/Nidjat_Mamedov) and [Alexander Zubarev](/source/Alexander_Zubarev) in the Open Romgaz Tournament in Bucharest 2008.[6] In 2009, he won the fourth President [Gloria Macapagal Arroyo](/source/Gloria_Macapagal_Arroyo) Cup in [Manila](/source/Manila),[7] tied for second with [Shakhriyar Mamedyarov](/source/Shakhriyar_Mamedyarov) in the fourth [Kolkata](/source/Kolkata) Open,[8] tied for 3rd–8th with [Vadim Malakhatko](/source/Vadim_Malakhatko), [Elshan Moradiabadi](/source/Elshan_Moradiabadi), [Merab Gagunashvili](/source/Merab_Gagunashvili), [Alexander Shabalov](/source/Alexander_Shabalov) and [Niaz Murshed](/source/Niaz_Murshed) in the Ravana Challenge Tournament in [Colombo](/source/Colombo).[9] He qualified for the [Chess World Cup 2009](/source/Chess_World_Cup_2009) and was knocked out by [Surya Shekhar Ganguly](/source/Surya_Shekhar_Ganguly) in the first round.[10] In 2010 he tied for 3rd–6th with [Ding Liren](/source/Ding_Liren), [Zhou Jianchao](/source/Zhou_Jianchao) and [Merab Gagunashvili](/source/Merab_Gagunashvili) in the first [Florencio Campomanes](/source/Florencio_Campomanes) Memorial in Manila[11] and came first in the First [Safin](/source/Shukhrat_Safin) Memorial in Tashkent.[12] In 2011, he tied for 1st–3rd with [Tigran L. Petrosian](/source/Tigran_L._Petrosian) and [Marat Dzhumaev](/source/Marat_Dzhumaev) in the [Georgy Agzamov](/source/Georgy_Agzamov) Memorial in [Tashkent](/source/Tashkent).[13]

Filippov played for Uzbekistan in the [Chess Olympiads](/source/Chess_Olympiad) of 2004, 2006, 2010, 2012 and 2014.[14]

Filippov recorded his career best performance of 2820 at the 40th [Chess Olympiad](/source/Chess_Olympiad) in [Istanbul](/source/Istanbul) 2012, where he won the individual silver medal on board two.[15]
