He spent a season and a half with the [Canberra Raiders](/source/Canberra_Raiders) before moving to England to join the [Warrington Wolves](/source/Warrington_Wolves). Swann played for [Samoa](/source/Samoa_national_rugby_league_team) at the [2000 World Cup](/source/2000_Rugby_League_World_Cup).
In 2002 he switched to [rugby union](/source/rugby_union), and played for the [Bay of Plenty Steamers](/source/Bay_of_Plenty_Steamers).
