# Anthony Moise

**Anthony Moise** was a [Dominican](/source/Dominica) politician and cabinet minister from [Dominica Freedom Party](/source/Dominica_Freedom_Party).[1]

Moise was 74 years old in August 1980,[2] so he was born about 1905–1907. He was a farmer and builder from the southern village of [Soufrière](/source/Soufri%C3%A8re,_Dominica).[3]

Moise was first elected to the [Legislative Council of Dominica](/source/Legislative_Council_of_Dominica) in 1961 as an independent and 1966 as a [Dominica United People's Party](/source/Dominica_United_People's_Party) candidate.[4] He was one of the founders of [Dominica Freedom Party](/source/Dominica_Freedom_Party) in 1968.[5] He was elected to the [House of Assembly](/source/House_of_Assembly_of_Dominica) in 1970 under the banner of [Dominica Freedom Party](/source/Dominica_Freedom_Party).[6] In 1975[7] and 1980[8] he was re-elected from [Soufrière constituency](/source/Constituencies_of_Dominica).[1][9] Moise was appointed the [Leader of the Opposition](/source/Leader_of_the_Opposition_(Dominica)) from 1970[10] until April 1975 when he was replaced by [Eugenia Charles](/source/Eugenia_Charles).[11]

When [Eugenia Charles](/source/Eugenia_Charles) became [Prime Minister of Dominica](/source/Prime_Minister_of_Dominica), Moise was appointed [Deputy Prime Minister](/source/Deputy_Prime_Minister_of_Dominica) in July 1980.[2] He served until 1985, when he stood down and was succeeded in Soufrière constituency by [Charles Maynard](/source/Charles_Maynard_(Dominican_politician)).[12]
