The **Antares MA-32** is the first model in a large family of [Ukrainian](/source/Ukraine) [ultralight trikes](/source/Ultralight_trike) that is designed and produced by [Antares Aircraft](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Antares_Aircraft&action=edit&redlink=1) and at one time marketed by [Leading Edge Air Foils](/source/Leading_Edge_Air_Foils) as the **LEAF Antares**. The aircraft are supplied as kits for [amateur construction](/source/Homebuilt_aircraft).[1][2][3][4]

## Design and development

The MA-32 is a two-seat design that was originally developed for European microlight competition flying. The aircraft has a standard empty weight of 321 lb (146 kg). It features a [cable-braced](/source/Flying_wires) [hang glider](/source/Hang_glider)-style [high-wing](/source/High-wing), weight-shift controls, an open cockpit, [tricycle landing gear](/source/Tricycle_landing_gear) and a single engine in [pusher configuration](/source/Pusher_configuration).[1][2]

The aircraft is made from bolted-together [aluminum](/source/Aluminum) tubing, with [titanium](/source/Titanium) used on the carriage structure and wing attachment. The wing is covered in [Dacron](/source/Dacron) sailcloth. Its 33.8 ft (10.3 m) span wing is supported by a single tube-type [kingpost](/source/Kingpost) and uses an "A" frame control bar. A number of single or double surface purpose-designed trike wings are optional, including the [Aeros Still-17](/source/Aeros_Still-17), [Aeros Stream-16](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Aeros_Stream-16&action=edit&redlink=1), [Aeros Stranger 2](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Aeros_Stranger_2&action=edit&redlink=1), [Aeros Profi](/source/Aeros_Profi), [Aerossa Sprinter-15](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Aerossa_Sprinter-15&action=edit&redlink=1), [Aerossa Stratos](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Aerossa_Stratos&action=edit&redlink=1) and the [Aerossa Stratos-13](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Aerossa_Stratos-13&action=edit&redlink=1). The [landing gear](/source/Landing_gear) uses a unique curved, slab-sided, main gear leg design made from [fiberglass](/source/Fiberglass) that reduces [aerodynamic drag](/source/Aerodynamic_drag). All wheels have suspension and the steerable nose wheel also features a drum brake. A fiberglass cockpit [fairing](/source/Aircraft_fairing) is optional. Series engines include the [Rotax 447](/source/Rotax_447) [two-stroke](/source/Two-stroke) powerplant of 40 hp (30 kW), [Rotax 503](/source/Rotax_503) of 50 hp (37 kW), the liquid-cooled [Rotax 582](/source/Rotax_582) of 64 hp (48 kW), the [Rotax 912](/source/Rotax_912) and 912S [four-stroke](/source/Four-stroke) powerplants of 80 hp (60 kW) and 100 hp (75 kW) and the [HKS 700E](/source/HKS_700E) of 60 hp (45 kW).[1][2]

The aircraft can all be quickly folded for storage or ground transportation.[1]
