# Annette Henninger

**Annette Henninger** (born 1966) is a German [political scientist](/source/Political_scientist). She is professor of politics and [gender relations](/source/Gender_relations) at the [University of Marburg](/source/University_of_Marburg), Germany. Her research has focused upon [antifeminism](/source/Antifeminism) and gender in the workplace.

## Career

Henninger was born in [Kassel](/source/Kassel), Germany, in 1966.[1] She took her PhD in [political science](/source/Political_science), focusing upon women in the Berlin labour market. She then worked at the [University of Bremen](/source/University_of_Bremen) and the [WZB Berlin Social Science Centre](/source/WZB_Berlin_Social_Science_Centre).[2] She is professor of politics and [gender relations](/source/Gender_relations) at the [University of Marburg](/source/University_of_Marburg).[1]

She edited the 2020 book *Antifeminismen* (*Antifeminisms*) with [Ursula Birsl](/source/Ursula_Birsl), in which they examine a rising tide of [antifeminism](/source/Antifeminism) in Germany and link it to a crisis over gender relations and racism, using different empirical studies.[3][4][5] The same year she co-edited the volume *Arbeitskonflikte sind Geschlechterkämpfe* (*Work disputes are gender struggles*). This book assesses [industrial action](/source/Industrial_action) through the lens of gender.[6] In 2022, she was interviewed by *[The Christian Science Monitor](/source/The_Christian_Science_Monitor)* about gender relations in Germany, after [Angela Merkel](/source/Angela_Merkel) stepped down from the chancellor's office and [Olaf Scholz](/source/Olaf_Scholz) became the new [chancellor](/source/Chancellor_of_Germany).[7]
