Clark received a [BS](/source/Bachelor_of_Science) from [Washington State University](/source/Washington_State_University) in 1980, an [MD](/source/Doctor_of_Medicine) from the [University of Washington School of Medicine](/source/University_of_Washington_School_of_Medicine) in 1985, and a [JD](/source/Juris_Doctor) from [Seattle University School of Law](/source/Seattle_University_School_of_Law) in 1989, graduating first in her class.<ref>{{Cite web|title=Dean Limelight: Annette Clark, Seattle University School of Law|url=http://campus.lawdragon.com/dean-limelight-annette-clark-seattle-university-school-of-law/|last=Slade|first=Margot|date=2015-03-03|website=Lawdragon Campus|language=en-US|access-date=2020-05-04}}</ref> While in law school, she clerked for [United States Circuit Judge](/source/United_States_Circuit_Judge) [Eugene A. Instead, she became a law professor at the same law school where she obtained her JD degree—a position she held for the majority of her career—and later the dean of this law school.
