# Anja Vanrobaeys

**Anja M. M. G. Vanrobaeys** (born 19 November 1968) is a [Belgian](/source/Belgium) politician and member of the [Chamber of Representatives](/source/Chamber_of_Representatives_(Belgium)).[1] A member of [Vooruit](/source/Vooruit_(political_party)), she has represented [East Flanders](/source/East_Flanders_(Chamber_of_Representatives_constituency)) since June 2019.

Vanrobaeys was born on 19 November 1968 in [Lüdenscheid](/source/L%C3%BCdenscheid), Germany.[1] She has lived in [Erpe](/source/Erpe) since she was eight years old.[2]

Vanrobaeys was elected to the [municipal council](/source/Municipal_council) in [Erpe-Mere](/source/Erpe-Mere) at the [2006 local election](/source/2006_Belgian_local_elections).[3] She was re-elected at the [2012](/source/2012_Belgian_local_elections) and [2018](/source/2018_Belgian_local_elections) local elections.[4][5] In March 2021 she announced that she was resigning from the municipal council in Erpe-Mere and moving to [Aalst](/source/Aalst,_Belgium) so that se can take part in politics there.[2] She contested the [2009 regional election](/source/2009_Belgian_regional_elections) as the [Socialist Party Different](/source/Socialist_Party_Different) (SP.A)'s 22nd placed candidate in [East Flanders](/source/East_Flanders_(Flemish_Parliament_constituency)) but was not elected.[6]

Vanrobaeys contested the [2010 federal election](/source/2010_Belgian_federal_election) as the SP.A's 15th placed candidate in [East Flanders](/source/East_Flanders_(Chamber_of_Representatives_constituency)) but the party won only three seats in the constituency.[7] She contested the [2014 federal election](/source/2014_Belgian_federal_election) as the SP.A's second placed substitute candidate in East Flanders and received 3,478 [preference votes](/source/Preference_votes).[8] She was elected to the [Chamber of Representatives](/source/Chamber_of_Representatives_(Belgium)) at the [2019 federal election](/source/2019_Belgian_federal_election).[9] She was re-elected at the [2024 federal election](/source/2024_Belgian_federal_election).[10]
