The '''Angels Hotel''' in [Angels Camp, California](/source/Angels_Camp%2C_California), was the hotel where the author [Mark Twain](/source/Mark_Twain) heard a story that he would later turn into his short story "[The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County](/source/The_Celebrated_Jumping_Frog_of_Calaveras_County)".<ref name="CHL" />

The hotel was originally a [canvas](/source/canvas) [tent](/source/tent) erected by C. C. Lake in 1851, and replaced by a one-story wooden structure. It was rebuilt with stone in 1855, and a second story was added in 1857.<ref name="CHL" />

In front of the building is the "Frog Hop of Fame", where [commemorative plaque](/source/commemorative_plaque)s are embedded in the [sidewalk](/source/sidewalk) for the winners of the annual Jumping Frog Jubilee frog jumping contest.<ref name="CHL" />

The building, no longer operated as a hotel, is registered as [California Historical Landmark](/source/California_Historical_Landmark) #734.<ref name=CHL>{{cite ohp |id=734 |name=Angels Hotel |accessdate=2012-09-05}}</ref> It was also listed on the [National Register of Historic Places](/source/National_Register_of_Historic_Places) in 1972.<ref name="nris"/> It is currently an apartment complex.
